Interesting facts about LED lighting

The fact is that classic lighting is still present in most homes and companies. In public lighting, the advantages of LED lighting are clear to everyone. The relatively slow transition to modern lighting is economical. As the resources of classic light bulbs are depleted, they will replace them with LED bulbs. And those are Interesting facts about LED lighting.

Almost everyone is already familiar with the environmental benefits of LED lighting, just as their economy, adaptability, and the ability to change the color temperature of the light during operation. Also, the advantage of LED bulbs is that they are incredibly long-lasting. Their working life is incomparably longer than conventional bulbs and reaches as much as 50,000 hours. Or, if that's easier for you, some 15 years of work provided that eight hours are used daily. Just imagine how much electricity is saved during that period!

However, we should not forget another advantage of LED lighting - no toxic element is used in its production.

LED lamps do not attract insects

Light bulbs, lamps, and other light sources attract insects, a well-known fact. However, few people know why insects love light so much: it is not directly related to light bulbs but to the spectrum of colors that make up the emitted light.

Classic light bulbs emit a lot of infrared light, which attracts insects, which is why they gather around the light bulbs. It is a proven fact inside or outside the premises.

In addition to infrared light, insects are attracted to bulbs emitting blue light. Knowing that there are LED bulbs that emit a blue spectrum, insects will gather around them. To avoid such situations, use LED lamps with a warm white color spectrum.

In countries with a cold climates, LED lamps shine brighter

Unlike standard incandescent bulbs, which are not ideal for use in cold conditions, LED bulbs have also proven superior in this field. The practice has shown that their resistance to harsh climatic conditions is exceptional and that LED bulbs usually function entirely.

You have probably noticed that fluorescent tubes do not work correctly if installed in a cold environment. Also, even when they work, they shine noticeably weaker than in a warm climate. In contrast, LED bulbs like the cold - they last longer and shine brighter! That is one of the reasons why cities with harsh environments use LED bulbs for public lighting. Namely, it has been proven that LED lighting functions fine even at temperatures of -85 degrees Celsius.

LED lamps have a positive effect on newborns and promote faster recovery from various diseases

An interesting fact about LED lighting is that this type of light has healing properties. Healing with the help of light has been known since ancient times. The ancient Egyptians treated themselves with the sun's help. A little later, the ancient Greeks also cured various diseases and organic disorders using the light of the brightest star in our solar system.

With the advancement of technology, light therapy also has advanced. The undesirable infrared spectrum is eliminated, so the treatments are more effective. The first to introduce light therapy into modern medicine was Niels Ryberg Finsen in the last century's second half of the 50s. His invention significantly improved the treatment of jaundice, which was just the beginning of the application of phototherapy in modern medicine.

In the 21st century, phototherapy is used highly effectively in treating diseases in newborns with LED lamps that emit light of the blue spectrum. The treatment lasts only a few days. Apart from jaundice, exceptional results have been recorded in treating many skin diseases.

Showcases with LED lighting reduce the risk of bacteria and extend the life of food

We have all witnessed that in large retail chains, goods are illuminated to attract customers' attention. Objects, especially food products, are exposed to an intense ultraviolet spectrum, leading to numerous unwanted consequences. Colors on things fade and lose their intensity, and food spoils much faster and easier because it is exposed to heat.

Then there is an uncontrolled proliferation of bacteria and other undesirable microorganisms, leading to food product spoilage. Using LED bulbs avoids almost all unwanted consequences; in the worst case, their occurrence is significantly slowed down and represents a marginal problem.

LED lamps reduce the risk of fire

To thoroughly examine the properties of LED bulbs, an experiment was conducted to measure the maximum temperature that these bulbs can reach. The measurement lasted an hour and compared the results with an identical investigation conducted on classic light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.

The results are expected but also surprising, and the differences are significant. The coldest, of course, is the LED bulb (65 degrees Celsius). The fluorescent tube reached 139 degrees, while the classic bulb was heated to 268 degrees Celsius!

It is not difficult to conclude from this that the LED bulb is the safest regarding the fire risk; the fluorescent tube is already dangerous, while the classic bulb can almost certainly cause a fire under certain circumstances. In addition, the thermal radiation of the LED bulb is the least, so at just a few centimeters from such a light source, almost no heat is felt, and all objects retain their initial temperature.

Consequently, LED bulbs cannot cause burns or start a fire if handled according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

LED lamps as one of the factors in saving aquatic ecosystems

LED bulbs offer a vast spectrum of light they emit, so their use in growing plants is of immeasurable importance. What you need, you can get. We can use these bulbs equally effectively in the open field but also in unique rooms for growing plants.

According to the characteristics of LED light, bulbs made with this technology have found application in aquariums. So, fans of this "sport" can now quickly grow various types of corals in their aquariums. It has been scientifically proven that classic lighting harms the ecosystem, even outdoors! So it is suggested to replace the usual lighting of coastal areas with more modern and environmentally friendly LED lighting.

Research has shown that there is a danger that even 90 percent of coral reefs will disappear by the year 2050, thanks to the so-called light pollution! The use of LED lighting would significantly reduce the risk of extinction of a large number of organisms essential to the entire planet. All this again shows the importance and contribution of LED lighting to the modern world.

Considering everything discovered, we can only guess what other benefits LED lighting brings. But time will tell what we can hope for.
